Grandmaster Ward Inducted into U.S. National Hall of Fame
Grandmaster Rick Ward was inducted to the United States National
Hall of Fame on August 4, 2007 as Outstanding Grandmaster of the
year. Grandmaster Ward traveled to Las Vegas, Nevada to receive
the award. He was one of 115 from the United States who was inducted
this year. He was one of three inductees from North Carolina,
one of whom was his student, Master Jason McGuire of Wilkesboro,
NC. Rick has owned Blue Ridge Kung-fu Arnis Academy in Boone since
1985. He is the Grandmaster Instructor over eight different schools
in North Carolina, Tennessee, Virginia, Mississippi and Kansas.
In both group and private classes, Grandmaster Ward teaches Sil
lum Kung.
fu five animal style, Sasamba Kali Arnis (Filipino Martial Arts),
Emperor\rquote s Long Fist (Tai Chi, Hsing-I, Ba Kua and Northern
Shaolin Kung-fu), professional weapons training, and self-defense
for women, men and children.
He holds the rank of 10th degree Grandmaster of Kung-fu, 10th
degree Tuhon in Filipino Martial Arts and 9th degree in Tai Yang
Tzu Jen Men (Sunburst Natural Style), the latter which is a system
that Grandmaster Ward founded.
Grandmaster Ward is the son of N.T. and Jean Ward of Vilas, NC
and a graduate of Watauga High School. He is a native of Watauga
County and live in Boone.
